Awarded Funding for Mental Health Activities
Regional Center Training and Regional Planning Projects
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) received Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Funds for Fiscal Years 2008-09 through 2010-11. Funding will allow regional centers to develop and oversee innovative programs that focus on early intervention and treatment for children and families impacted by mental health issues, and treatment options for adults with a dual diagnosis.
A Request for Applications was distributed to regional centers. Upon careful review of the applications, the selection committee, comprised of committed stakeholders, awarded funding to the following regional centers:
- Golden Gate Regional Center is funded to develop and implement an innovative training focusing on infant mental health (relationship-based preventive intervention practice) utilizing evidence-based service models.
Contact: Michelle Bennett at mbennett@ggrc.org

The project also includes a Fellowship Practicum for county-contracted and/or private psychiatrists to receive education addressing consumers with mental health issues.
Contact: Stephen Mouton, Psy.D. at smouton@sgprc.org - Adult providers, families, Early Start providers, clinicians, and regional center staff will participate in an extensive training that will focus on the best strategies for working with and supporting the children and families of young consumers at risk for abuse and trauma. Additional training will focus on families, consumers, and providers who work with adults and adolescents who are dually diagnosed.
